I figure that you want to know who I am, after all you’re looking at considering me for your wedding or portraiture shoot.
My name is Julian Claxton and I have been involved in photography for fifthteen years.
Having worked during the early days of my career in professional processing labs, studios and event companies I then went on to study photography with Anglia Polytechnic to degree level.
Facing huge decisions upon graduation I took the plunge and trained to become a medical photographer working for one of the largest hospitals in East Anglia. During this time I kept up my personal work, winning awards and progressing my photography both in the medical environment and within editorial circles.
Three years ago I became self employed, working as an editorial and documentary photographer, and since my early adventures into editorial photography I have seen myself become established in a number of sectors within the editorial industry.
The business was launched to coincide with my first solo exhibition entitled “Naturally Norfolk” which received regional and national coverage and proved a great success. Since this first adventure into documentary assignments I have worked on some fabulous social documentaries establishing myself as a unique social documentary photographer.
During my editorial, commercial and documentary work I still continued to shoot portraiture and in February 2008 I launched By Julian – the sector of my business specialising in documentary wedding photography & lifestyle portraiture.
I bring my skills as a documentary photographer to this exciting market, creating wonderfully unique and personal images.
